Well Crappola
I had been planning on getting up and going to David's. I made sure to pack some yoga clothes when we bailed out... I had someone to watch the kids while I went in the morning...
And then the rain... you know Seattle rain which felt so good and awesome today... and I was chasing a kid down a steep driveway and BOOM I twisted my ankle trying not to fall. I can't turn my ankle to the left at all and turning past about 10 degrees to the right.
But, in the very least, I am safe, sound with my kids and not breathing ash air.
Poor Kiran can't get back to her house... she's sitting in mine with her family. I happy I evacuated and stayed gone so she has a place to go. The displacement is tough. The Daughter had a bit of a meltdown this afternoon so I laid down with her for awhile and then bought her a coloring book.
Life is good... stressful... I can barely focus but good nonetheless.

Comments
Hey julie...i have been thinking about you and hoping that you, your family and your worldly posessions are safe. Please extend my thoughts to kiran as well. It's funny that john never mentions any of this on his comments on squirrel's blog. Escapism, i suppose. I cannot even imagine what it must feel like to fear for your home, your neighborhood, your safety, your security except to remember back to the days following nine-eleven, and realizing that even though i hadn't lost a loved one, the "landscape" was forever changed. Prayers to you all...lauren

Hi Julie,
Glad you're safe here, and we even have sunshine for you! Nevermind about practice...today was a moon day anyway. And David will be gone for a long weekend off doing a workshop, so I'll be the one bellowing out the count for Saturday's led primary in his place. Come and practice if you're still here and can manage to get there! Call me or send an email...

Thank you for the hopitality! We were let back into our houses yesterday around noon, the line of cars waiting to get in at all entry points was long but the national guard held us there until they were given orders to let us in. Truly sad for those who lost their homes. We have several friends who had to get out fast and now have very little.
The response by the government and the fellow San Diegians has been overwhelming. I hope the rebuilding process is smooth for all of those who lost their homes.
We actually have some fog this morning, I assume any amount of moisture helps.
PS, I left some fruit in your refrig that I forgot, just toss it out when you get back.
Thanks again.
Kiran

I think the stress is starting to get to me today.. I'm terribly down.. our flight back right now is Sunday... if school is still closed and the air still sucks, we'll just stay but otherwise it will be nice to get back to a routine.

I have only heard that Torrey Pines IS OPEN, haven't heard about my younger ones. If your kids school is within the realm of the San Dieguito school district I believe they will have school.
It is not so bad here, hazy for sure, just stay inside and it shouldn't be too bad.
Off to go buy a few things for our friends who have nothing anymore :(

For our district, school is back in session on Monday (C has been out school for 3 weeks now because he had a 2 week long Fall Break). The air quality improved as the day went on..still not great, but it improved. Offshore breeze is pushing it inland.
Hang in there momma! The routine will kick right back into gear when you guys get back :-)
