Evacuation Update
To keep you informed...
The Kids and I are in Temecula; however, we can see a huge fire that just started on a mountain right next to us. I've decided to leave California for now. The Kids and I are getting on a plane and going to Seattle. My company and friends have provided us a house and beds all to ourselves... we have thrown our clothes in and are hoping that our personal valuables will be safe here in Temecula or that my parents can take them along should they need to evacuate too.
Wiley... I will call you when I can get out of California.
DJM - please be safe.
To all my friends and family in SoCal... don't be a hero... get out if you need to.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti

Julie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We saw the news and are saddened by it. Hope you're able to return home soon.

haven't gone out to farto scope out what actually happened. i gather there was likely no significant CV action as i never once heard that neighborhood mentioned on the news. i think there was a fair amount of damage in fairbanks. supposedly there were embers that had to be extinguished as far west as crest dr in del mar. rsf was spared except for about ten homes along the southeastern border.
tomorrow will reveal a lot, as people get into neighborhoods that had previously had limited exposure because of the evacuations. there is always that risk of recurrence of flare ups as the winds shift back to onshores, but built up areas like CV should have essentially no risk in that scenario. enjoy the fresh air. it is totally cleared out here though, at least in my turf.

the air is supposed to worsen over the next two to three days as the gradual on-shores bring all that smoke back in overhead. no hope for a post-fire rain to clear the skies, like we had in 2003.
enjoy the rain in seattle
