Winter Sucks
It sucks the life out of me. Winter. Or maybe it's just the average Seatle weather but there is just no way I could live here. I have felt down and tired all day. I finally realized at like 3pm that it's the weather. Cold (oh so cold) and grey... Cold and grey. I talked to The Husband tonight and he said it is like a perfect beach day in San Diego. Man, I'm missing like all the good left over summer days.
I had an interesting day at work today. Lots of movement and some final insight into a situation I've felt a bit out of control with. The insight really helped me to determine where my role is in my current situation and how to fit in and do a good job. We'll see if I still feel that way in a few days but for today, at the very least, it makes me feel like my trip isn't wasted effort.
I'm waiting for my kids to call me on my webcam now. It must be wild to be a kid in today's world.

UM...PERFECT BEACH DAY? Yeah right, perfect beach day if you like going to the beach in sweats, socks, and a beanie maybe...it's COLD here!

I die laughing when I read these things! There you are in my favorite city on the last day of summer with exactly the weather I would die to have! We've just had four days in a row where the temp didn't get above 100 degrees. What bugs you sounds like heaven to me! I'm definitely having an Alanis Morrisette moment here.

Would I be so terribly wrong to say I know exactly how you feel because we had a WHOLE DAY of rain yesterday? I honestly thought we'd never see the sun again. 24 hours and I depressed and mopey. I think I'd better stay below the Tropic of Cancer or I'll go all "heeeerrrreee's JOHNNY" on the family.

The key to surviving this weather is to get out in it. People hide inside when it's grey and I think that undoes them. I grew up in the same area you live in and came here by way of HI. I got accustomed to it!
When you get a chance to break away again for a weekend, throw a picnic lunch together and check out one of the San Juans. The island weather is drier and sunnier and autumn is fantastic there.
